Dow Class of 1979 graduated in 1982.

In between Drs. Chughtai and Prof. Ansari is late Dr. Kazi Tanveeruddin Uzair, President of DMCSU 1981-82 who passed away at age 29.

Per Dr. Shad Basheer on Nov 22 2018 on FaceBook post:  “I will point out that our original year of graduation was to have been 1979.
However our final year professional exams were held in 1981 (10 Aug was the date of first paper. )
The results were announced in early Feb 1982. The date on our degree is 6 Feb 1982.
We call ourselves and are known as the Class of ’82.
(To lend some ‘authority’ to the above, I was the CR in the 4th and final years and negotiated the date of the exams.)

1982. The class of 1979 graduated in 1982 due to exam delays.
The convocation ceremony was held at Dow presided by Vice Chancellor
of Karachi University Marhoom Masoom Ali Tirmizi. Later that evening the dinner was
at Holiday Inn Karachi (now Marriott Hotel).  The photo is courtesy
of Dr. Shah Muhammad Vaquas who is receiving the certificate from
late Prof, Mohammed Ali Ansari while late Prof. Fazle Ilahi looks on.
Behind Prof. Ansari is late Dr. Kazi Tanveeruddin Uzair, President of
DMCSU 1981-82 who unfortunately died at age of 29 in NY.
Our Tariq Shahab was magazine secretary DMCSU.
