Dr. Akther Ahmed in the Final Year Roll of Honour. Dr. Ahmed returned from UK to run the Department of Neurology, Civil Hospital Karachi and was a mentor and teacher to many Dowites in 1960s and 70’s.
Dr. Hameeda Shariff, Roll of Honour in the Third Year MBBS Exam returned to Pakistan and ran the Intensive Care Unit at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Karachi in the 1970’s and 80’s. It was the only ICU in the city at one time.
Dr. Inayatullah Jokhio, Roll of Honour, 2nd Year MBBS, returned to his alma mater and became the Head of Orthopedics at Civil Hospital Karachi. His department was second only to Prof. Adeeb Rizvi’s Urology Department in cleanliness and organization. He also founded his own Jokhio Orthopedic Hospital and continues to be the premier orthopedic surgeon in Pakistan.
Mr. Mohummed Raza, 4th year MBBS, Roll of Honour; (graduated in 1958) Dr. Raza joined the Civil Hospital Cardiology Department and then left for USA in the 90’s; he currently practices Internal Medicine and Cardiology in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

“Munir thanks for your kind communication . I returned to Pakistan after getting MRCP from London, Edinburough, Glasgow served in NICVD research unit; then went to Johns Hopkins left as Asstt Professor. My wife Dr Batul Turabi did her PhD from Hopkins and served as director NRIFC and PMRC.. I served as Professor of Cardiology Dow from 1988 t0 1990.we came back to USA in 1990 and I served at Mount Sinai Cardiology Deparement, VAMC Bronx and as Chief of Cardiology Sinai Queens Hospital. Batul until recently worked in the department of public health NY. With highest regards to all Dowites ……Raza”
