This is a farewell party given by students of Dow Medical College (of all years) at the Karachi Intercontinental Hotel in 1972 for
Professor of Physiology late Prof. Shahinshah Hussain Zaidi (in the center). Seated next to him on his left is Prof. Afaq Ahmed, an
Assistant Professor in Physiology and next to him on his left is late Professor Shakir Jaffery, Assistant Professor Biochemistry. On Dr. Jaffery’s left is Dr. Nazira
Shakir. Sitting third from left is Dr. Ghazanfar who was a lecturer in Physiology.
Standing in the back on extreme right is Jamshed Kanga who was in third year MBBS at the time. On Jamshed’s right is Fatiha, a student from Saudi Arabia.
On her right are Jamila, Amtul Jabar, Unknown, Azra Raza,, Qamar, Meher Fatima. Sitting third from left is Farrukh, fifth is Salman Zafar, behind him is
Anwar-ul-Haque, then Nasser Mahmood, and on extreme right is Usman Sadiq.
Out Dow 1977 class was in second year MBBS at the time and we had the opportunity to be trained in Physiology and Biochemistry by all the above teachers.
Prof. Zaidi was remembered by our class for his anecdote of “bed tea” in reference to the gastro-colic reflex!
Please help with identifying remaining names. Most students were identified with the help of Drs. Ghazala Khan, Murad Moosa and Dr. Sabiha Haq.
